November is Wild Ice Skating Month in Anchorage!

The Anchorage Assembly encourages the growth of wild ice skating, recognizing Ermine Skate as North America’s first Nordic skate company

On November 18, 2025, the Assembly officially designated November as Wild Ice Skating Month in Anchorage! The resolution was co-sponsored by Assembly Chair Christopher Constant and Mayor Suzanne LaFrance, and unanimously approved by the Assembly.

The resolution notes that “Anchorage is home to the first-ever Nordic ice skate company in North America, founded in 2021 to make skates specifically for wild ice, further cementing the city’s status as a hub for innovation, craftsmanship, and leadership in the outdoor industry.”
